It just concerns me because, on my (non-widescreen) television, ABC does not reformat its shows for high-resolution, which means that the sides of the screen always get cropped out. (The same holds true for CBS, but strangely not for NBC, FOX, or The CW.) If I want to get the "full" experience watching an ABC/CBS show, I need to watch it on an HD network. Of course, if the Inhumans series turns out to suck (as I'm led to believe it might), I imagine screen formatting won't make much of a difference. Marvel thought process: Well Scott Buck's already ruined Dexter and Iron Fist. Better throw more money at him! I wasn't familiar with the name, but as it turns out he was the writer of two of the worst episodes in Six Feet Under's entire run!

No gripes about the Christmas ep, but I was referring to "That's My Dog" and "Bomb Shelter."

Okay, weird as it sounds, there are no wide film releases in America this weekend. Next week will see a string of new films (including IT, which I'm looking forward to), but the first weekend of September is nearly empty. The only widespread "premieres" are going to be the Inhumans pilot and a 40th-anniversary re-release of Close Encounters.
Now, Hollywood is just coming off its worst box-office weekend since 2001, which means that audiences are probably starved for something good (particularly over Labor Day weekend). So, given that a 1970s rerelease can only go so far, and that the MCU has dominated the box-office with its every film... is there a chance that the Inhumans "film" could be a financial hit?
(Feel free to tell me I'm overthinking this.)

I made my feeling known about my first watch of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' on another post. I have seen most of the MCU movies and have enjoyed them enough. I am not a comic book fan so I don't ever know if the side characters are the same as in the comics. I did just watch two MCU movies for a second time:
Ant-Man: It has occasional humour and you can't go wrong with Paul Rudd, however, it felt the same watching it again as it did the first time. A little too long and just.... something is missing. I don't know what or of how much but something is missing.
Iron Man: The first in the MCU series and it holds up. It can get away with certain things because it is the first one and it still feels like it does more with its time as a character intro than some others. Pretty good.

Well, Inhumans made $1.5 million in America over the weekend, and another million or so overseas. It was outdone by pretty much every other film in theaters now, including the Close Encounters re-release.
Technically, this would count as a "bomb," although it's not like the film was all that widely marketed or distributed in the first place.
Plus, in terms of box office, this has been the worst summer since 1995. So maybe Inhumans had super-low expectations to begin with.

Yeah, it's weird, because in terms of mainstream American product (at least from May to July), this has been the best summer in many years. But most of the films released in August didn't perform well commercially, so here we are.

Anyways, low summer box-office revenue will likely be forgotten by the end of the year, when Star Wars does another $2 billion, and Justice League (regardless of its quality) does around a billion (more foreign than domestic markets).

I doubt The Last Jedi will do as well as The Force Awakens (though it will probably outperform Rogue One, which barely made over $1 billion). But it may pick up for some of the year's earlier slack.
Beauty and the Beast is still the biggest hit of 2017 (even factoring in that a lot of the summer hits are still playing in theaters). And it's also one of the worst films I've seen in 2017. There may be a lesson in this, but I hope not.

Yeah, I had B&tB out from the library a while back, but never got around to watching it.

Well, reviews for Inhumans are even worse than those for Iron Fist. The show is currently sitting at a 31 on Metacritic, making it the lowest-rated new show of the fall. (Though Wisdom of the Crowd may pass it soon.)
But on the bright side, Thor: Ragnarok looks pretty cool.

(Though Wisdom of the Crowd may pass it soon.) I honestly want to watch this show to see just how awful it can possibly be.
