Since the show has a lot of fans (and a long history) at this forum, and Zarnium and Scott are watching it for the first time, and it's coming back for a fourth season next year... well, that's more than enough reasons to give the show it's own thread, right?
Discuss the show, the film, the novels, or the upcoming revival. But be mindful of spoilers (if you include them, have 'em marked), due to the aforementioned first-time viewers.

The idea of having a decade+ later revival to a high school show really intrigues me, most of them don't show us what the teens are like as established adults.
I only have access to it through the library and it's in high demand, though, so it might take me a bit to get through the whole show.

I guess my main question for Jeremy and those who watched it is how much of a step down is the next two seasons over Season 1? It was an enjoyable enough watch for a season but I don't feel super compelled to continue.

Season Two is less airtight than Season One, and the mystery can get a little too complicated. But it's still mostly interesting, and the best episodes hit the heights of Season One. The season also features some of the best extended commentary on social class, race, and the wealth divide I've ever seen in a scripted TV series. (It's not quite as detailed as The Wire, but its themes run pretty parallel.)
Season Three, on the other hand... is mostly a mess. It's not very serialized, its messages are pretty heavy-handed, and most of the characters feel like pale shadows of their former personas. It's easily the show's worst season, to the point that I've never met anyone who thinks otherwise.
It sounds like you didn't love S1 the way I do, but you may enjoy S2 nonetheless. I really doubt you'll care for S3.

I liked Season 3 of Veronica Mars about the same as Season 2. I thought breaking the season up into a few overarching mysteries kept them from getting as convoluted as Season 2, and I just generally prefer the college setting to the high school one. I also liked Ed Begley, Jr.'s work, and felt he played off Bell well. The season petered out a bit towards the end, with nothing in the third section being as urgent in nature as the first two sections, but at least it wasn't as spectacularly silly as the reveal at the end of Season 2. So yeah, Jeremy, now you've met one person, and I assure you there are more out there.

Perhaps these creatures do exist. For now, I'll just say that I didn't find the end-of-S2 reveal at all silly, and I think the problems with S3 are far beyond structural. (I went into a lot more detail on one of the older VM threads back in 2013.)
Also, I'm just now noticing the Veronica Mars parallels with American Vandal - high school-set mystery show with a character-centric first season and a more plot-heavy second season. And pretty close in quality, comparing their respective first and second years.

I mean I'll disagree with the "close in quality" as I am a big American Vandal fan, though we'll see how I feel about Season 2, and not that big a Veronica Mars fan, though I acknowledge the character of Veronica herself is extremely well done.
Okay, you've convinced me to give season 2 a try Jeremy. Sometime next year of course - watching two seasons of the same show in a row is not in my playbook.

I think Season 1 of American Vandal is a touch overrated in some circles (it's engrossing, but not nearly as funny as it thinks it is), and the second season is somewhat of a step down from it. I mean, it's a fine show, certainly above-average, but not an all-time great or anything.
Veronica Mars certainly has its faults, but at its best, it's far wittier than the often low-brow antics of AV. And I cared way more about Veronica and her dad than anyone on either season of AV.
But, you know, different strokes and all that.

I just found out yesterday that Enrico Colantoni also plays Mathesar in Galaxy Quest, and I never noticed before. Now I can't stop noticing.

Very minor spoilers for post-S1:
It looks like pretty much all the original main cast members have signed on to the revival season, which isn't too surprising. What is surprising is that David Starzyk is going to play a major role in the season. I say "surprising" because he appeared in a grand total of three episodes in the original series, and was given maybe ten minutes of screentime altogether.
(Being intentionally vague here by giving the actor's name. Those of you who haven't watched past S1 probably don't know who I'm talking about.)

Return of Sydney Tamila Poitier??
(Yes I know you said "pretty much all" the original main cast members but it would be hilarious if she randomly came back for the revival.)

Sydney Tamila Poitier shall never return. I believe she was banished to the same Abruptly Disappearing Schoolteachers dimension as Caroline from Malcolm in the Middle.

How about we get Mac back? Or any other guest star who would've been a better regular cast member to fill the "Veronica's friend" role better than Wallace?
Edit: Actually, apparently she does come back for way more episodes. Since she has yet to appear in more than two episodes in my viewing, I assumed she was gone forever.

Yeah, Mac becomes a much more prominent character once the writers realized how good Tina Majorino was. (The fame she earned from Napoleon Dynamite didn't hurt, either.)
Wallace never develops into the show's most interesting characters, but he fills the show's "best friend" box decently.
