So there's a new Mega Man cartoon coming in 2017. The first trailer for it just got leaked and lord almighty does this make me want to Metal Blade my throat. The Ruby-Spears cartoon is looking like Avatar: the Last Airbender in comparison right now.

My original point of reference on the adaptation was that squat weirdo in Captain N: The Game Master who sounded like he'd swallowed a frog. The Ruby-Spears version aggravated me for its overreliance on Cut Man and Guts Man, who is in absolutely everything despite being a boring fight and a boring design. This? This looks like they were trying to emulate Mighty No. 9, which is probably not a good sign.

That trailer puzzles me a bit, because it looks like it's trying to appeal to very young children, but Mega Man is a rather old IP which I wouldn't expect children to be into.

Well, at least there's nothing about anime fans on prom night.

This looks like they were trying to emulate Mighty No. 9, which is probably not a good sign. I think the studio is aiming to duplicate the success they had with Ben 10. Which is... concerning. But maybe not too terrible, given that they seem to be aping Miraculous Ladybug which is frothy fun. I'm mostly mad that after Smash Brothers made a 3D Mega Man that was faithful to the original series and acceptably robotic, they've reneged on that in favor of some super ugly gelatinous teenager. Where's the clunky oversized boots?
