I'm trying to parse that last sentence, and for the life of me cannot figure out what it means. Joss Whedon is a robot, duuuuuuuh Wait, does this mean "Ted" was autobiographical???

That he has an imaginary teddy bear telling him to say crude and dumb stuff? Yeah, probably.

Anyone attacking these talk show hosts, and especially Jimmy Kimmel, for asking American lawmakers to exercise some degree of common sense w/r/t gun control, is a piece of shit.
Didn't know where else to post this, but there it is.

So, um... given everything that's come out of Hollywood in the last few weeks, the Robinson and Whedon stuff now seems pretty tame, don't it?
What a world.

If there's anything besides the Weinstein stuff, I haven't heard about it yet. Though, Weinstein was a producer rather than a writer, director, or actor, so I wonder if public opinion of his work might not suffer as much.

Weinstein's production work likely won't suffer, since he had a direct hand in very little of it. Though I expect The Weinstein Company will be changing its name going forward.
But the stories that have come out since - about James Toback, Brett Ratner, Kevin Spacey, and too many others. I always knew there was an ugly side to Hollywood, but so much of it has been brought to the surface lately.

Over here a dossier was released last week documenting the alleged predatory advances of thirty-six current Conservative MPs.

And now it turns out that Ridley Scott's upcoming All the Money in the World will cut all its Kevin Spacey scenes, and will reshoot them with Christopher Plummer. (The film hits theaters next month.)
Has something like that... ever happened before? I know there are cases when films will partially recast/reshoot when an actor dies (e.g. Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus), but this seems rather unprecedented.

What I find most saddening is how this is affecting the American House of Cards, which just sucks for everyone involved. Assuming the allegations are true, Kevin Spacey may have assaulted multiple people while working on the show, which is awful for the victims, but also pretty awful for anyone else involved in the show who was previously unaware of it and now has a shadow cast over both the time they spent working on the series and the resulting product. And since it's not finished yet, it puts the story that's been building for the last five years down the tubes, and tarnishes the legacy of a fairly culturally significant series that I'm sure everyone involved had hoped would be well-liked and prominent for years to come.
I mean, I've never had any interest in House of Cards, but I hate to see external factors tarnish a show like this. Films at least are typically produced fairly quickly and then the people involved move on to other projects, but working on a TV show is a pretty huge chunk of a person's life, only for what should be a positive, rewarding experience to be sullied by an assault on you or your colleagues.

It's disturbing for a multitude of reasons, not least of which is that many of Spacey's associates apparently knew about his actions. It casts a dark pall on his past work (no one will ever be able to watch American Beauty the same way again). I was actually in middle of watching Baby Driver on DVD when the story broke. I loved the film, but I had to ignore the Spacey allegations while trying to finish it. (Thankfully, he's not in the second half all that much.)
For what it's worth, Netflix claims that House of Cards was coming to an end next season, anyways. The show obviously has to alter its course in writing Spacey out, but it seems like most people involved with the series were ready to move on in general. The show's legacy is pretty irreparably tarnished, but I believe most of the people involved in it will be able to find work elsewhere.

I thought I read it had been entirely cancelled, without the sixth season?

Nope. Season Six was greenlit a few months ago, and they've apparently already filmed the first couple of episodes. Spacey's been fired from the show, and they've suspended production, but the series is set to wrap up as planned (likely with Robin Wright taking center stage).
I don't know if they'll end up rewriting/reshooting those early episodes, though.

Louis CK and Jeffrey Tambor? In the past twenty-four hours?
God, who's next?

Allegations of Louis C.K. exposing himself aren't exactly new, though, right? I thought that was pretty well established at this point. At least well enough that more thorough confirmation shouldn't come as a surprise.
This all just makes me angry for so many different reasons. Like, why would anyone do this at all? Is it really so hard for successful entertainment stars to get laid without resorting to sexual assault?
And yeah, I have to wonder: who next? I kind of hate to make this about viewers and fans rather than those directly involved, but I can't but help but worry that someday it's going to be "Chris Pratt is a serial rapist, there goes Parks and Rec!" or something else I care about.

I actually hadn't heard any allegations against Louis CK until a couple of weeks ago, and even those seemed comparatively minor, and were dispensed with rather quickly. The NY Times story which ran today, however, is not.
Incidentally, I saw Matthew Weiner's name trending on Twitter earlier today, and first thought he had also been accused of harassment. Then I realized, "Oh, he just had a book published. That must be it."
Then I saw that no, a female Mad Men writer was accusing him of harassment.
Ugh.
