I've decided to make a thread to track any interesting or unusual trends in the site's viewership numbers. Specifically, any specific pages that prove particularly popular on a given day (e.g. a West Wing episode that ties into the news of the day).
To start off, I noticed that at some point this morning, the review of the Angel episode "Harm's Way" was viewed a total of 58 times. There's no indication that the traffic was directed by a link from another site, which seems to indicate that some huge Harmony fan decided to read the review 58 times. In the space of a few hours. Now that is dedication.

In case any of you had placed bets, here were the ten most-read CT reviews/articles for the month of November:
1. Two Cathedrals 2. The Supremes 3. My Thoroughly Accurate Predictions for the 2018 Election 4. Han 5. No Exit 6. Memorial Day 7. I (the Dekalog premiere) 8. Gaza 9. Disney vs. Netflix? 10. Slow News Day
These numbers are pretty consistent with previous months (apart from the two Blog posts, which of course did not exist before November). "Two Cathedrals" has consistently been the site's most-visited review, although "The Supremes" has grown to compete with it in recent months. The closing stretch of West Wing Season Five is surprisingly popular, over a year after I reviewed it.
Coming in at #11 was the outsider "Indians in the Lobby," which received a brief spike in readership shortly before Thanksgiving.

"Separation of Powers" and "Shutdown" were the top two reviews for this site on Friday. No idea why...

So I notice that my reviews of bad West Wing episodes remain some of the most popular on the website. "Women of Qumar," "Long Goodbye," Access," "Birnam Wood" - people keep coming back to those.
"Two Cathedrals" remains #1. But... I apparently need to review more bad TV?

"Charmless City" has been charting again for some reason. Did someone link to it?

I don't think so. Someone found it through Google (apparently looking for the Franco discussion back in 2014), and probably accessed it a few times (or other people saw it pop upon the "Top Posts & Pages" and clicked on it themselves).
The last time someone linked to a piece on the site was in December, when a literary blog referred to my "Pop-Culture Books of 2018" article when discussing end-of-year booklists.

I hope you all appreciate that the back-half of Angel season 4 is trending right now.

In terms of web traffic, December 2020 has been the best month for CT since October 2018.
Encouraging sign, since traffic was pretty low for much of 2020, but it's been steadily rising again over the last few months. Don't want to jinx anything, but I'm hopeful 2021 will be something of a rebound year.
