Hello all, just taking a dip into CT during my Summer work sabbatical to drop a line regarding the sad passing of one of its most monolithic figures. Godard oft remarked that "cinema is dead", and around a decade ago I remember musing that cinema could possibly well die with him; in any case its an absolute milestone in its still-fledgling history.

A hugely significant figure in international cinema, particularly in the 60s. His work got very, very esoteric (and borderline impenetrable) in his later years, but one can't deny his overall influence on filmmaking.

I've admittedly never watched any of his films (one of my most glaring cultural blindspots, I know). Not sure if I'd love his work, or feel indifferent, or whatnot. But I recently - just last week, in fact - learned that the Star Trek writers intentionally invoked his name when they created Jean-Luc Picard.
Also, welcome back, Snipe. Are you planning another October challenge?

Thanks; just a fleeting visit as I find myself a busy man on the road, but time should be on my side come the 3rd of October, and yes I do have a small stack of (probably mostly rubbish) horror films lined up for the occasion. Slightly annoyed I can't seem to find a means of watching The Oily Maniac though, because that sounds bananas.
