I figured it was the best of both worlds.
But who knows. Maybe someday I'll write about books that aren't about television.

I finally summoned up the courage to write a piece on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, AKA The Most Frustrating TV Show of All Time. Proceed with caution.

Woah there, friend! You might need to slow down.

Oh, I'm just speeding up the post output for this week. It's a good way to remind people that the site is still chugging along, Buffy reviews or no.
I expect I'll have a "Memorial Day" review out by the end of this week; after that, I will probably slow back down to my usual pace.

I appreciate the deference to Paul Rubens who was the best thing in that movie but there's also Buffy spitting the thumbtack at the fly which was kind of amazing.

I think I remember that scene. Though it's been over seven years since I watched the film.

I was hoping to write a piece on South Park (which celebrates its 20th anniversary today), but I don't think my timetable will allow it.
But I've got an article on another animated series coming later this week, so please dry your tears.

I'm not the biggest fan, no. But the series has had a pretty huge impact on adult animation and political satire, and despite its wild unevenness, it does occasionally produce a brilliant episode. In any case, I'm sure other writers would have more to say about it than I would.
I am, however, a legitimate fan of the other animated show I plan to write about.

South Park actually produced a pretty brilliant SEASON two seasons ago. This past season was pretty strong, too, but got undercut by the election results messing up its central arc to some degree.

The member berries were great. I'm happy that South Park has elected not to cover Agent Orange this upcoming season, because they really don't have anything smart to say about him. Not that any of the satirists currently on television have anything smart to say about him. Nor any of the other television writers out there. Nor any of the TV thinkpiece writers out there. Any work of writing that invokes him is the worse for it is what I'm saying. (I never posted this anywhere because it was deeply stupid, but I wrote a piece suggesting that Trump would beat Clinton based on the incredible popularity of Fuller House and the terrible reception for the X-Files revival. It was meant as a joke. After the election I deleted it for being too real.)

The Nutshack. Got it in one. Close, but... actually, not really close at all. Hint: It's a show that you enjoy as well.

Season 19 was a really strong season. But Season 20 was hilarious, until the election. It's clear they had nothing intelligent or interesting to say.
