I think they should all wear flesh-toned bodysuits. That'll catch some channel-surfers, assuming such creatures still exist.

He's also going to be reviewing... The Orville? That's unexpected.
Still, his write-up of the pilot perfectly sums up exactly why it doesn't work.

Oh, and btw, Jeremy, the shorthand for Discovery isn't STD. It's DIS, thankfully.

I was expecting it to be a disaster, so I was pleasantly surprised when it was passable. I like the main character, Doug Jones, the way it differentiates itself from the other Star Treks, and the effects are stunning, but the story of the episode was middling. The potential is there, but I'm not buying CBS All Access to find out if it lives up to it.

I may eventually try for a free trial of All-Access at some point (maybe during one of their "free month" offers) and catch up on Star Trek and The Good Fight in a quick burst. But in general, CBS' streaming service has wayyyy too many commercials, and not nearly a good enough backlog to justify the price.
Still, given how many other streaming services there are right now, and how many others are in development for the future (Disney, ESPN, DC Comics), I expect that subscription-based online TV is only getting warmed up.

Except in Canada, where the cable company monopoly has collectively determined that the subscription based online TV service outside of Netflix should not exist unless you pay that 70$ per month cable subscription.
I am genuinely annoyed by this.

But hey, you guys get The Handmaid's Tale! Which is the only non-Netflix streaming show that's really worth watching.
Also, is your Netflix getting Star Trek: Discovery? I know that non-US countries are getting it through Netflix, but I'm unclear if the deal applies to Canada.

The 25th anniversary of the premiere of DS9 was a few days ago, but I still want to give it credit, by naming my top 25 episodes. DS9's a very special show to me, and in my honest opinion, one of the best to ever. It is depressing how many of DS9's themes are even more relevant today, though. Spoilers below:
Honorable mentions: "Progress", "Second Skin", "Defiant", "Visionary", "The Quickening", "The Ship", "Things Past", "Rapture", "The Begotten", "For the Uniform", "Blaze of Glory", "A Time to Stand", "Behind the Lines", "The Magnificent Ferengi", "Waltz", "Inquisition", "Take Me Out to the Holosuite", "Once More Unto the Breach", "The Changing Face of Evil", "What You Leave Behind". These are all excellent episodes, but didn't quite crack the best of list.
25. "Trials and Tribble-ations" 24. "In the Cards" 23. "Chimera" 22. "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" 21. "Homefront"/"Paradise Lost" 20. "Treachery, Faith and the Great River" 19. "It's Only a Paper Moon" 18. "Rocks and Shoals" 17. "...Nor the Battle to the Strong" 16. "Past Tense" 15. "Hard Time" 14. "Call to Arms" 13. "The Siege of AR-558" 12. "Favor the Bold"/"Sacrifice of Angels" 11. "Necessary Evil" 10. "Children of Time" 9. "In Purgatory's Shadow"/"By Inferno's Light" 8. "The Way of the Warrior" 7. "The Wire" 6. "Improbable Cause"/"The Die is Cast" 5. "Tacking into the Wind" 4. "The Visitor" 3. "Far Beyond the Stars" 2. "Duet" 1. "In the Pale Moonlight"

NIce. I'd probably have "Inter Arma..." higher, and definitely put "For the Uniform" as more than just an Honorable Mention. But that's certainly a concise list of DS9's high points.
I notice that, of the 50 or so episodes you've named, roughly 75% are from the last three seasons. Says a lot about how much the show developed as it went along.

Out of the 51 episodes I mentioned , 2 were from Season 1, 2 were from Season 2, 7 were from Season 3, 7 were from Season 4, 13 were from Season 5, and 10 were from both Seasons 6 and 7. So about 65% were from the last 3 seasons. The early seasons aren't all that bad. Very few classics, but the good ones are near the top of the list. The show gets good in the final leg of Season 2, and doesn't really look back from there, with the exception of the questionable pah-wraith storyline and the mishandling of Dukat's character following "Waltz" (or better yet, when someone had the brilliant idea of combining the two bad ideas!). The stretch from "Blood Oath" to "The Jem'Hadar" is the one of the best sustained run of episodes all of Star Trek. Season 3 is more consistent than Season 2, but only "Second Skin", "Past Tense", and "Improbable Cause"/"The Die is Cast" are truly great in my opinion. Season 4 is the first great season, and Season 5 takes it to an entirely different level. It's possibly the best season. According to my list, Season 5 actually has the most great episodes, which surprised me. I thought Season 6 would top the list easily, but the run of episodes after "In the Pale Moonlight" kind of stumbles. "His Way", "The Reckoning", "Profit and Lace" (barf), and "Time's Orphan" all being very close to each other probably hurts it a bit. Season 5 may not have as many peaks as Season 6, but aside from "Let He Who Is Without Sin..." and "Ferengi Love Songs", every episode is at least good, and frequently outstanding. Probably one of the best 20+ episode tv seasons that exists. Season 6 gets off to a corking start with a hugely successful six episode arc, but kind of loses a sense of direction after that. There's also a ton of filler without any impact on the show as a whole. Season 5 had many episodes that weren't directly related to the main story arc, but were nonetheless worth watching because they moved a story forward-usually a character's. "Resurrection", "The Magnificent Ferengi", "Who Mourns For Morn", "One Little Ship", "Honor Among Thieves", "Change of Heart", "Valiant", "Profit and Lace", "Time's Orphan", "The Sound of Her Voice"-all episodes that don't move characters or any plot whatsoever forward. Some of them are great, and most of them are good, but it would have been nice to have meatier, relevant material throughout the season. Ah well-still an amazing season. Season 7 fixed this problem for me-it had more episodes that felt vital, even if they didn't hit the heights of Season 6. The final arc was well thought out and executed, even if certain plot points fizzled (cough cough Winn and Dukat). The finale was undeniably flawed, (really? That was his task all along? To push Dukat off a cliff?) but was very satisfying and gratifying. Remove the Emissary storyline and I think the show would be even better; it never seemed to add anything and was always the least interesting part of the show to me. At the end, it was actively hurting the main storyline. Thumbs down to that, thumbs up to everything else. I can't wait to watch that documentary.
