OK, to recap, I beat the story of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Tuesday following its Friday release, and it took me two weeks to find and complete all 120 shrines.
Apparently, though, the Percentage Complete counter that appears in the bottom-left corner of the map screen (after you beat the story) mostly relates to things discovered on the map, whereas Shrine Quests, Side Quests, and Memories have their own separate, unrelated counters. Which is to say, the 900 (!) Korok seeds in the game make up 72% of that completion rate, which is, of course, madness. I'm at just over 26% complete, BTW, with only around 60 seeds found: I know the telltale signs for seed puzzles, and yet I am often blind to them, particularly in heavily forested areas. I'm not going to attempt to find all of the seeds, but I will find some more, to at least bring that percentage up to something a bit more respectable.

I've got a 98.84 completion percentage on Zelda, as I've now found all but one of (that's 899 in total) the Korok seeds (which will drive me mad, because I can't determine where it is). Now it's just an issue of wandering into a few more locations (which will then be listed on the map), and I'll hit 100%. Said percentage does not include shrine quests or side quests, which are on separate counters.
Whew!

So they announced that they're discontinuing the NES Classic for Reasons but now there are rumors that a SNES Classic is incoming?

I usually go for 100% completion on Zelda games, but if I'm missing a couple heart pieces and have no clue where they are, I won't bother trying to find them, and looking the locations up online is nigh impossible since I don't remember which ones I've gotten already. The Korok seeds sound like they have the same problem but waaaaaaay worse. As for the Mini consoles, the story we've gotten from Nintendo is that they severely underestimated demand, since they assumed the only people who would want them were nostalgic 40+ adults and their normal user base wouldn't want to buy one. (I think this partly explains why it was so lax on basic features, like a controller with a reset button or a cord that's more than three feet long.) This being the case, my guess is that Nintendo now realizes the massive demand for this sort of thing and wants to start over with new devices with better features, such as a mini SNES and possibly a Mini NES 2.0, and have a larger production run. At least, I hope that's the case. If they underestimate demand again, they've got to be pretty stupid.

It's like searching for a needle in a sea of haystacks.

Apparently the world record for 100%ing the game is just under 49 hours. I have taken...slightly more time to get here.

So, is it just me, or has Nintendo been killing it with the E3 game reveals? The Switch lineup seemed pretty bare for awhile, but I don't think we have anything to worry about now. Metroid Prime 4 at last!

So, is it just me, or has Nintendo been killing it with the E3 game reveals? The Switch lineup seemed pretty bare for awhile, but I don't think we have anything to worry about now. Metroid Prime 4 at last! Time to play devil's advocate! I thought they did pretty well, but the Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Switch announcement felt cheap. Like, neither are actually coming for a very long time, but they don't want backlash, so they just showed a logo and had the Pokemon company guy say that it's coming. It's a smart business decision, and it's better than nothing, but nothing worth getting that excited about. I assume both will be on the show floor next year though. The new Kirby and Yoshi games look pretty good, but we've seen both styles of gameplay before, recently too. As a JRPG fan, I cannot wait for Xenoblade 2, and Fire Emblem Warriors looks excellent as well (though it would have been nice to see gameplay and not just cut scenes). Super Mario Odyssey looks like the best thing since..........ever. Mind blowing stuff. That's Nintendo at its best, making stunning creativity and level design look effortless. On the whole though, the presentation was way too short, and they could have had way more stuff shown off, though the games they did show off were good. What's Retro been working on? Where's the new Pikmin, Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Smash, Mario Party, Mario Sports game, Mario RPG, new IPs, Virtual Console, etc.? They could be doing so much more with their vast catalog of franchises. It's too bad Mario Odyssey is the exception, because if they brought that creativity to their other franchises, they would so easily crush the competition.

I'm just glad that they officially announced a new Metroid game after it seemed to have gone the way of F-Zero, disappearing with no comment.

That is definitely a relief. At least we're getting it sometime.
