I've got the Odyssey Switch bundle pre-ordered, and I'll pick it up Thursday at 9pm. I've probably seen 30% of the game on YouTube by now, and it looks glorious.

So, Odyssey is pretty great so far? This could well be my favorite 3D Mario platformer once it's done. And it looks it's not going to be done for a long time, even though I've "beaten" the main quest already I only have some 20% of the power moons.

Yeah, it's a tremendous piece of work. And some of those power moons are pretty darn tough to find!

No kidding, I have no idea how some of these stages have so many. I've been all over New Donk City and can't imagine where so many more moons could be hidden.

One thing I'd encourage you to do, if you're not already, is whenever you're near the edge of a cliff, tilt the camera over to see if you can fall onto a lower cliff, where a door or some coins or power moons might be hiding.
I know some folks think a lot of the game is too easy, but I think there are some very challenging sections, and that the overall difficulty is just right.
It's also kind of funny how Electric Bolt Mario has pretty much replaced the stars that shoot you into the sky in the Galaxy games. As much as Odyssey draws from the sandbox qualities of 64 and Sunshine, things like the electric bolt and the forks and woodpecker capture remind me a lot of platforming sections in Galaxy. They even did the upside-down gravity thing in the Donkey Kong 8-bit section in New Donk City.
BTW, did you know you can hold down the picture-taking button to record 20 seconds of video that can be posted on Twitter or Facebook?

I think it's pretty clear that the real challenge of the game comes after the "main quest," which is really just an extended introduction to all the kingdoms. I did not.

Though I didn't get the chance to play Odyssey yesterday, I think I'm up to nearly 600 power moons. There are a few I'll probably never be able to get: the jump rope and volleyball to 100, and a handful of others. Anyways, when you hit 500 moons, it opens up the final, er, kingdom.

I finally managed to complete the 100 jump rope challenge.
Now, I want to know: how on Earth did the world record holder do 55,555 jumps? There's gotta be some kind of foul play, right? That's, like, over five hours of doing nothing but tapping the button.

I don't know that I'll ever have the patience to beat that or the 100-hit volleyball challenge. And I used Assist Mode to see the entirety of Darker Side of the Moon, as I couldn't be bothered with it having no checkpoints.

I completely forgot about assist mode... I may break and use it for the Darker Side eventually, too.

Anyone interested in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp? I've been having fun with it so far. It's pretty simplistic, but it's a fun little diversion, and it's free. There are microtransactions, but they aren't really necessary or all that enticing, so I wouldn't let that scare you away.

I got every moon and purple coin in Odyssey. I used the in-game hints for a bunch and used online guides for a few, but I've 100%ed the game.

Yeah, I did that at the end of November. Did you get all 999 moons by grinding for coins to get all the costumes? I played that vine mini-section of Bowser's Kingdom over and over again: the only tedious part of an otherwise thoroughly delightful game.

I never had to grind, I just made it a point to grab all the coins I saw during normal play.
