Neat. I wonder which film he saw.

Pop artist like Warhol or Taylor Swift? (Though I suppose the former wouldn't consider himself so far removed from the latter.)

Ocean's 8 is a fun but ultimately insubstantial film. Still, I decided to write about it. Not so much about the movie itself, but what it says about current female-driven films in Hollywood. Linko.

Been a while since I reviewed a film trilogy. So let's shake things up with a look back at one of the decade's more popular - for good and ill - franchises: the Pitch Perfect trilogy! Are the films fun and creative, or just plain aca-scruciating?

So that pesky little voice inside my head was all "You're supposed to review that other film trilogy this week! You know, with the dinosaurs and stuff! Much more appropriate." And on this rare occasion, the voice was right. So I did.

Here's my review of Incredibles 2! I watched and discussed it, 'cause that's what I do! (Sorry. No decaf in the break room today.)

Here's my review of Incredibles 2! I watched and discussed it, 'cause that's what I do! (Sorry. No decaf in the break room today.) Ah, that is disappointing. I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like it was super close to topping the original, but didn't quite get there. That's almost worse than if it had just been mediocre.

Not necessarily. Sequels to great films rarely top the original, and while I was disappointed that Incredibles 2 wasn't as good as it could've been, it's still a pretty impressive followup. A mediocre sequel (a la Monsters University) would have just been painful.
I'm more concerned about Toy Story 4, which I'm still not convinced they can pull off properly. We'll have to see.

Unfortunately I've not been able to see the film yet as plans didn't align, and probably will not in theaters, so forgive me if I don't read the review despite me really wanting to discuss it and the now franchise in general. I was tempted, but I don't want to spoil it or have anything influence my initial perception of it.
I'm a bit conflicted to be honest when it comes to whether or not it would be better for it to be mediocre or great but-not-quite-as-great as the original. I'm the kind of person who will nitpick, especially if it's something I'm passionate about, and that half-empty feeling knowing just a slightly bigger portion would have satisfied is almost as bad as leaving hungry. If I'm hungry, I'll just go to another restaurant I'm used to and forget about the bad service and long wait time, and I can be completely full and satisfied at that point. But if I'm not all that hungry because I ate a decent yet smaller meal, yet still not satisfied, it's difficult to be gratified until the next time I am hungry again.
Ultimately it will depend on just how close it is, or if I respectfully disagree and feel it does match or exceed the original, maybe even how I feel that particular day, if I am able to see it at some point.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to read my collective reviews of all six Mission: Impossible films. This post will self-destruct in five seconds. (Okay, maybe it won't. But read the review anyway.)

I considered writing a Teen Titans Go! to the Movies piece last week, but real life decided to kick me in the pants. Now that I've recovered, though: Azareth, Metrion, Zinthos!

You and Quiara really need to do something about that school bully. At any rate, I wish you a speedy recovery from that atomic wedgie (we all know you're still hurtin', bud...there-there).

Honestly, an atomic wedgie sounds more enjoyable than the extraordinarily dull exams I'm forcing myself to sit through. Probably less physically painful, too.

I was told earlier this week that it's time to "get serious" about my non-Internet life. And I totally will. Honest. But I'm also gonna review the latest in popular teenage romance, because that is how I roll.

I wrote about Smallfoot, a film about fake news and partisanship and religious fundamentalism. Also there are snow monsters who fall down.
